Independent Ireland literally “copy-pasted” amendments from landlord lobby group
PBP Galway has drawn attention to the fact that Independent Ireland literally “copy-pasted”amendments to the Residential Tenancies bill from the landlord lobby group The Irish Property Owners Association (IPOA) in order to make the bill more pro-landlord.
PBP Candidate for Galway West Denman Rooke expressed disgust at the news saying “At a time when rents are through the roof, the number of homeless in Ireland has broken records, and the cost of living is crushing everyone, Independent Ireland chose to make amendments to a bill to support of landlords”.
Rooke said he wanted voters in the upcoming by-election to know that a vote for Independent Ireland was not only a vote for landlords, but a vote for a party that was “so lacking in imagination and vision for the future that they’re literally copy/pasting ideas from the landlords”.
“A better name for Independent Ireland would be Fianna Fáil party 2.0”, quipped Rooke, “because they’re offering more of the same disastrous politics that have brought Ireland to the point of crisis, and their candidate for the Galway by-election is Noel Thomas, who was with Fianna Fáil for some ten years before he finally left!”
Rooke expanded on this point by adding “and why did he leave? Not because he disagreed with their awful housing policies, not because he opposed their monstrous austerity measures, not because he thought their health care policies were disastrous, but because he wanted greater freedom to blame migrants for his own party’s failures!”
